In a city where football is a fever, a love and a passion, four friends take stock of their lives and, as memories surface, try to rebuild a peace of mind that has fallen to pieces. In their simplicity they share something very unusual and unique: a crazy passion for their team and extraordinary, almost fairy-tale childhoods. They are made of material as simple as bread, but on Sundays at the stadium they are swept away by a fury that shakes them to the core every time. There is joy, bitterness, irony and a great desire to smile as they recall the victories, the moments of ecstasy, the defeats and the tragedies they have shared over the years.

A story of simple people, bound by an unbreakable friendship that helps them face life, holding each other in a delirious, moving embrace.

“I have always told stories of characters full of humanity, fragile and dreamy. My theatre is built by reproducing the language of dreams. It proceeds by allusion, by association of ideas. Memories rise like bubbles in a drink that quenches your thirst on scorching days. I try to build rarefied images, suspended in an invented, weightless time. I love twists, surprise endings, stage machinery, magic and illusion. I grew up in the theatre and was then carried off by large-scale events: monumental shows for Cirque du Soleil, Olympic ceremonies. Yet every time I find again the smell and taste of the stage, I feel I am coming home and rediscovering my roots. I believe the characters who people my stories are clowns, since they whisper, stumble, laugh and are moved. They are made of crystal, butter and sugar, and with a gust of wind they turn into giants. I was lucky enough to meet Stefano Accorsi, Luciano Scarpa, Sasà Piedepalumbo and Luigi Sigillo, actors full of humanity, craft and passion. With them it was easy to bring to life this little rhapsody dedicated to all those who never give up.”

Daniele Finzi Pasca

“Being part of a show so suspended between dream and simplicity – friendship, irony, fragility, passion, football, music and colour – after a period like the one we have lived through, and are not entirely out of yet, is a wonderful adventure. Daniele Finzi Pasca writes three-dimensionally: you literally have to step into his world to inhabit it and live it, to feel it without trying to explain everything. Characters who are real and dreamlike at once, touching and funny clowns in whom we all recognise ourselves. With Luciano Scarpa, Sasà Piedepalumbo and Luigi Sigillo on stage it is pure fun, even when the deepest and most intimate chords are struck. I am happy that this artistically free collaboration with the Teatro della Pergola and Nuovo Teatro continues, and I can't wait to meet audiences again in theatres all over Italy!”
