“Chi è io?” (Who Is I?) is a psychological, psychosomatic, psychedelic, psychotropic comedy that works on audience and characters alike, in a realistic and visionary way. There are three narrative levels: reality, the metaphysical, and the fiction of a TV show. An investigation of the psyche and the soul, with characters representing the beyond, the here and now… or almost.

“Who is I?” Leo Mayer asks, together with the people he loves and who love him, in a turmoil of fears and passions, as he relives the dream of his life in a whirl of drowning. What happens if love is stronger than death? Do dreams really heal reality by mixing it with the unreal?

The great intellectual and psychoanalyst Leo Mayer relives his life through shifts in credibility – plausible but not true. His philosophical reflections are dissolved by a trashy TV dream; high and low are indistinguishable, and the disorientation is comic and unsettling. Leo Mayer also has to deal with some of his patients, who escape the normal behavioural, relational, emotional and psychological rules of traditional psychoanalysis. But that's not all, because there is also reality – the world of the living, where everyone has a role, a bond, a grudge, a desire.

We all inhabit reality, fantasy and the unconscious at the same time, and we all ask ourselves the same question: what really matters in life? What are we, and what do we want?

What everyone wants: love and forgiveness.
