Storie de Tango is a show that reinterprets and tells the story of the Argentine tango of Astor Piazzolla, today the most widely known, performed and loved tango composer in the world. Through the texts of Luis Borges and Horacio Ferrer and the music of Piazzolla – three Argentinians linked by an extraordinary bond of feeling and collaboration – Alessandro Haber leads us on a long journey towards Argentina, a distant land of emigrants, of hopes, nostalgia, desolation and a great deal of tango. Through many masterpieces, such as the cycles of Baladas and Milongas, Haber's voice can also fall silent, leaving the floor to the music alone and to the refined playing of the ensemble – all Italian, from varied backgrounds but deeply attuned to that world. The show tells of a world of hope and disillusionment, of passion and betrayal, through the pathos and irony typical of South American culture. Haber draws his audience in because he himself is passionate; he brings the stories to life and makes us feel their atmospheres, immersing himself deeply, believing in them and wanting them to reach us as fully as possible. From the very introduction he talks about himself, his encounter with music and his somewhat 'reckless' venture into singing, his growing passion for tango and his strong desire to form a band of his own… a few minutes in which his voice speaks, and so does the feeling that will carry on for the rest of the evening.
