VINCITORE DEL PREMIO MAX 2019 COME MIGLIOR SPETTACOLO MUSICALE
After its great success in Spain, France and Mexico, THE OPERA LOCOS arrives in Italy before continuing its tour in the USA, Canada and the UK!
Five of the world's most famous opera singers are summoned for a unique event revisiting the greatest classics of opera. Everything points to a glorious evening… or so it should have been. The event starts in style, but it soon becomes clear that the stage is too small for such enormous egos. The chaotic turn the show takes produces moments of incredible comedy for the audience, who witness an inexorable clash between five vain 'prima donnas' in a battle to the last aria. It will be a night to remember!
The story follows five crazy characters who express themselves through fragments of arias from famous operas, mixed with each other or with variety numbers, rearranged or parodied.
It begins with a student and his singing teacher, struggling to learn Figaro's aria from The Barber of Seville. It moves on to a female fan who manages to win over an opera singer, drunk and depressed because he can't sing Turandot's Nessun Dorma properly… And it ends with a seductress who proclaims Carmen's free love before trying to seduce a man of the people with Samson and Delilah's aria «Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix» and Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You.
The show has a highly polished look, lots of humour and a great love story told through the biggest opera 'hits' of all time, sacrificed on the altar of burlesque!
The show centres on the relationships and hidden passions of this company of five singers, who sing strictly live such emblematic pieces as Puccini's Nessun Dorma and the Queen of the Night from Mozart's The Magic Flute, blended surprisingly with rock and pop elements to create a new music-theatre experience.
