Lo spettacolo ha debuttato to Teatro Auditorium Unical by Rende on 30 October 2018.
Two spinster sisters, slighted by an ungenerous nature, spend their lives in a continuous, crackling exchange of mutual accusations. Addolorata and Rosaria spend most of their day in a small, historic haberdashery in a Naples alley, now surrounded by Chinese emporiums and Middle Eastern fast-food joints, before going back to their modest but dignified flat nearby. A life marked by the monotonous but reassuring repetition of events. Addolorata, after a life of sacrifice and saving imposed on her by her sister, finally wants to enjoy life. Rosaria, who has made avarice and accumulation the purpose of her existence, has no intention of touching their substantial bank account, which has grown exponentially over the years. Even using the television, with the resulting electricity bill, can spark an argument. Forced into a difficult cohabitation, the two 'signorine', now well past marrying age, cannot even count on a private life to distract them from family life. The little news that reaches them from the world comes from relatives' gossip or reality TV. Their only real outlet seems to be constantly provoking each other in hilarious, no-holds-barred squabbles. Rosaria dominates and Addolorata reluctantly submits. But just when the two sisters seem destined to play these roles for ever, an unexpected accident turns their fortunes upside down, finally giving Addolorata the chance to carry out a revenge she has been nursing for too many years… Le Signorine is a comedy that skilfully exploits the comedy hidden behind everyday tragedy, above all thanks to two formidable actresses of the Italian stage, who turn the sisters' quarrels and miseries into a constant stream of gags and laughter. With their Neapolitan earthiness, Rosaria and Addolorata make us laugh and move us, telling the joys and sorrows of family life with great irony. An irreverent and poetic text that reminds us that the family is the place where we are allowed to show our worst side without the risk of losing our most important bonds.
